My name is Lyndsy Thatcher and I own Determination Training and Lessons. I was born 30 years ago and have always carried with me an undying passion for horses. I am not only a riding instructor and horse trainer but I am a high school English teacher in Milwaukee. I hold a bachelors degree and two masters degrees. This class work helps me in give riding lessons and working with children.I started out riding my aunt's horse Frosty and a pony named Daisy. My mom told me once that I turned to her as a young child and said, " Mom, Daisy is a beautiful animal." Truer words had never been spoken. Little did we know just how far this obsession with these four legged friends would take me.
When I was about 7 years old, I started taking lessons and my uncle gave me a saddle, the saddle led us to a wonderful pony named Polly. Polly taught me a lot and boy did she put up with a lot from me. We showed together all over Illinois and Wisconsin, many times beating out her taller counterparts. Not bad for an unregistered brown pony.
Soon we bought my mom a palamino gelding named Unimocol Jeff. His name ironically stood for University of Missouri Columbia, which is where he was born and where my mom happened to have gone to college. Sabres Bar Mount soon joined us. He looked as though he could have been Unimocol's son. He was a 3 year old palamino. My mom and I showed the two of them for many years before deciding to move on to a different breed and higher levels of competition.
In January of 2002, an out of shape, dirty little black and white filly came barging into my life. Her registered name was Cleggs Bar Skip. I was 13 and she was 2. We decided to name her Dice since my dad said we were taking a gamble on her, which was a better name than what her breeder called her. She was quite precocious and was dubbed Pita, which stood for pain in the a**, and she was! Dice and I showed paint and pinto shows and even headed to the Pinto World show. We earned many awards and points together. She won the aged mare halter class as a ten year old at her last big horse show, this was added to her to reserve national championships. She was an all around winner. In 1999, we bred Dice to Maxs Carbon Copy and in 2000, we were blessed with a little filly whom we named Don't Skip this Copy (Mckenzi).

For the last 8 years, I have been showing and training Mckenzi. I have also started giving lessons and training other horses. In the past 24 years, I have had many great successes with horses and hope to help you achieve your goals. Let's see how far DETERMINATION can take you!!!
